Thrush
Thrush is not often passed on through sex, but it's included here because it's very common. Thrush is a fungal infection that mainly affects people with vaginas. It is caused when there is an overgrowth of fungus called Candida.
Thrush is not usually passed on by sexual contact, but sex can make it worse.

Symptoms
Some people don't have any symptoms.
Some people may notice:
- White and cheesy-looking discharge.
- Stinging pain while passing urine.
- Pain or discomfort during sex.
- Itchy and swollen genitals.
Treatment
Tablets and creams are available from the chemist without a prescription. If these treatments don't work a doctor can provide further advice.
