Sexually Transmissible Infections (STIs)

STIs are infections that can be passed on during unprotected sex (sex without a condom) with someone who has the STI. Sex includes vaginal, anal, oral sex.

A lot of the time STIs don't have any symptoms, so you don't know you have them. An STI test is the only way to know for sure if you have an STI. These tests are quick and easy and are usually free or low cost.

Blood-Borne Viruses (BBVs)

Blood-borne viruses (BBVs) include hepatitis B, hepatitis C, and HIV. If untreated, HIV can cause Acquired Immuno-deficiency Syndrome (AIDS).

BBVs are passed from person to person through blood-to-blood. The best way to protect yourself from BBVs is to avoid anyone else's blood coming into contact with yours. A big risk for getting BBVs is injecting drugs. HIV and hepatitis B can also be sexually transmitted.
